MS Artist of the Year 2018
Don Jacobs is a Mississippi-based artist best known for his realism and large-scale paintings and murals. Despite having grown up in the South, he spent the better part of a decade in Germany earning his degree in graphic design. Upon returning home at age 30, he embarked on a career as a graphic artist. At 33 he began dabbling in painting for the first time and entered a whole new world of expression. Self-taught as a painter, he eventually went out on his own, first doing faux-finish work and then graduating to murals. His prize piece is his monochromatic “Mississippi Landscape” in the Mississippi Governor’s mansion, but he’s worked all over the state and has work in collections from California to Europe.
